Establishment description: Children at Bartholomeus Klip Farmhouse Families are most welcome at Bartholomeus Klip and we accommodate them at Wild Olive House, which provides the perfect environment for children. Wild Olive House is located near the main house, on our working wheat and sheep farm, on the edge of the Elandsberg Private Nature Reserve, where animals are often sighted from the back garden! This fully equipped house has all the necessary items for children of all ages. From the basic cot, high chair and children’s cutlery, the house caters for all age groups, with a variety of games and a selection of Children’s DVD and DSTV Bouquet with essential children’s channels. Special children’s menus have been designed for both their nutritional value and to make mealtimes fun. Wild Olive House has a secure garden and private shallow swimming pool surrounded with fencing for safety. There are children’s bicycles available and a child seat is provided when needed. We offer a variety of activities to ensure that the little ones have a pleasurable stay with us. Activities include: 1. A welcome pack-(depending on ages) including colouring books, disposable camera-to capture their adventure, crayons arts and crafts and a surprise treat from the kitchen on arrival. 2. Baking classes – Children (Little Chefs) at Wild Olive House will be invited by our Kitchen (the Big Chefs) for an hour to enjoy baking lessons with our Bartholomeus Klip Chefs. They will receive an invitation from the kitchen and gifts including a specially made and limited apron, cookie cutter and chef’s hat to perform their duties. Their time with us will prove enlightening and educational, learning tips and tricks to make baking fun!! They will be given the Chefs ‘secret cookie recipe’ to take with them. (These classes are for children staying 2 days at Wild Olive House and will take place on the 2nd day of their stay in the afternoon. All children will be supervised by management and parents are welcome to join in) 3. Nature and farm activities -for children staying longer than 3 nights, we offer exciting child focused leisure outings with our trained field guides. Activities include fishing, canoeing and farm exploration to spoor and plant identification. These trips aim to be educational and relevant to our area and allow children to experience the most from the farm and Nature Reserve. These would be offered in the early part of the afternoon and consist of approximately 1 hour sessions. (This can be offered along with the ‘Little Chefs’ class for Children staying for longer than 3 days) 4. Game drives -for Children staying only 1 night at Wild Olive House we have the daily game drive and use of all facilities. Our Guides can arrange a combined farm tour in the mornings with the game drive, thus educating them regarding our spectacular Fauna and Flora. Children’s Menus Breakfast Choices: Accompanying the brunch brought down to Wild Olive House we have special breakfast treats for children and these change daily to give them variation. There is always children’s cereal and yoghurt available at Wild Olive House. Here are some of our favourites: 1. Chocolate and banana French toast 2. Crispy whole wheat toast with an egg centre 3. Pancakes with apple and cinnamon 4. Boiled eggs with cheesy soldiers 5. Fruit Smoothies available in strawberry and mango Dinner Choices: Adults may enjoy dinner in our conservatory restaurant in the main house, while their children are supervised by a caretaker at Wild Olive House. Should the family prefer to dine together, a delicious family meal will be provided at Wild Olive House. Here are some of our favourites for children: 1. Cheesy Macaroni with fresh tomatoes and a freshly baked roll 2. Roast chicken with mashed vegetable crumble and sweet potato fingers 3. Baked potato stuffed with savoury mince and cheesy farm cheddar 4. Beef stir fry with noodles and seasonal vegetables and a freshly baked roll. 5. Home made pizza with fresh tomato, mozzarella, ham and pineapple served with some greens. Dessert choices include: 1. Fresh seasonal fruit with strawberry sorbet 2. Home made ice cream with chocolate sauce 3. Waffles with whipped cream, nuts and cherries 4. Crème Caramel with home made ice cream 5. Banana split with all the trimmings! 6. Strawberry and chocolate milkshakes. There are two bathrooms, one with shower. Outside, a separate cottage has a double bedroom and bathroom, and a sitting room with a private deck looking up to the mountains. Room facilities:

Meals description: We provide afternoon tea which is a selection of sweets and savouries, we can either arrange a family meal at the Wild Olive House or organise a babysitter and have a 3 course dinner at the main house. The next morning we provide brunch which is a lavish breakfast with a selection of fruits and pastries and cooked breakfast. These meals are available for a cost of R320.00 per adult and R160.00 per child per day. Establishment facilities & services:
Local facilities: We are a short distance from Riebeek Kasteel which has numerous wine estates and olive tastings. In the nearby town of Tulbagh there are also museums and wine tasting. On the farm we offer game drives, walks and biking. There are trout in the dam and we have fishing equipment on site. There are also boats and canoes to use.
